Prioritize Grammar Questions

The Reading and Writing modules include a mix of question types. Instead of progressing chronologically, it is often more efficient to skip ahead and solve grammar and punctuation questions first.

These questions are rule-based and can often be completed in under 20 seconds, allowing you to secure quick points and reserve time for more demanding inference and main-idea questions later in the module.

Identify the Goal First

For rhetorical synthesis questions that provide bulleted notes, avoid reading the notes immediately. Start by reading the specific goal or instruction at the bottom of the prompt.

In many cases, the correct answer can be identified simply by determining which option fulfills that goal, without needing to analyze every bullet point in detail.

Use the Process of Elimination

On the Digital SAT, there is only one objectively correct answer. If a choice is even slightly inaccurate, too extreme, or introduces information not supported by the text, it should be eliminated.

Rather than searching for the perfect option, it is often easier and faster to identify and remove the three incorrect ones.

Use the Flag Tool Strategically

If a question takes more than one minute, flag it and move on. The DSAT interface allows you to review all flagged questions at the end of the module, ensuring that difficult problems do not prevent you from securing easier points elsewhere.

Focus on Module One

Because the DSAT is adaptive, your performance in Module One determines whether you receive a harder or easier version of Module Two. Strong performance in the first module is essential to unlocking the highest possible score range.
