At 17 or 18 years old, many Lebanese students are asked to make one of the most important decisions of their lives: choosing a university major. Yet they are expected to do so with little exposure to real careers, limited professional guidance, and almost no understanding of how their choices will shape their future.
For thousands of students across Lebanon, selecting a field of study is not a strategic decision, it is often a leap of faith. At EduBolt, we encountered this uncertainty repeatedly, and it became clear that career guidance in Lebanon is not equally accessible. Orientation should not be a privilege reserved for a few; it should be a fundamental right for every student.
Why Career Guidance Is Broken in Lebanon
In many regions, career orientation remains centralized, expensive, or simply unavailable. Students outside major cities often lack access to universities, mentors, and professionals who can help them make informed decisions about their academic and professional paths.
As a result, talented students frequently enter university programs that do not align with their skills, interests, or long-term goals. This misalignment leads to frustration, wasted potential, and difficult course corrections later on.
This systemic gap is what inspired the creation of Pathfinders.
The Birth of Pathfinders: A National Career Orientation Movement
Pathfinders was launched in 2021 with a clear objective: bring meaningful career orientation directly to students, wherever they are. What began as a modest initiative quickly evolved into Lebanon’s largest free and decentralized career guidance event.
Rather than replicating traditional education fairs, Pathfinders was designed as an inclusive bridge connecting students with universities, mentors, and professionals. The focus was not only on admissions, but on helping students understand themselves, explore possibilities, and make informed decisions about their futures.
Taking Career Orientation Beyond Beirut
In October 2025, Pathfinders reached a major milestone with a three-city national roadshow, engaging more than 3,000 students across Lebanon.
The journey began in Tripoli, in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Tripoli El Mina and the EU Jeel Connect Network, hosted at the Safadi Cultural Center. It continued in Beirut, supported by SmartESA and ESA Business School, alongside the Rotaract Club of Beirut Millennium. The final stop took place in Zahlé, co-organized with the Rotaract Club of Zahlé Capitol, Loubnaniyoun NGO, and the Municipality of Zahlé.
Each city brought a different energy, curiosity, ambition, and hope, but shared the same need: access to quality career guidance.
Measurable Impact on Students and Education Access
Across its editions, Pathfinders has successfully connected:
3,000+ students
40+ Lebanese institutions
30 international universities from France, the United States, and Canada
The initiative has been recognized for its contribution to SDG 4: Quality Education, demonstrating that decentralization is essential to true accessibility. Beyond university applications and career talks, Pathfinders created a space where students could ask questions, gain clarity, and confidently envision their future paths.
What’s Next for Pathfinders
Pathfinders exists thanks to the dedication of Rotaract clubs, partners, sponsors, and volunteers who believe that collaboration can shape the future of a generation. Their collective effort proves that impactful career orientation is possible when institutions work together with purpose.
This is only the beginning. As we look ahead, Pathfinders is preparing to expand to even more cities, continuing its mission to make career guidance in Lebanon accessible to all — one student, one city at a time.
